Electrical Cabinet Inspection Checklist

A repeatable checklist for enclosure condition, environment, measurement and records.

By Mairun Engineering Guide · Updated October 2026

A good checklist makes small issues visible before they become a shutdown. It should be short enough to use and specific enough to produce comparable records.

Exterior and enclosure

Check door seals, locks, cable glands, unused openings, labels and visible corrosion. Photograph changes when site policy permits.

Environment

Record cabinet temperature and humidity where relevant. Check heaters, fans, thermostats and drain or breather arrangements according to the design.

Electrical indications

Review alarms, meter readings and phase comparisons under a known operating condition. Do not open energized equipment unless the person and procedure are authorized.

Follow-up

Assign an owner and due date for every abnormal item. A checklist with no follow-up is only a list of observations.

Adapt the checklist to the site design and safety system. This guide is educational and does not replace an inspection standard or qualified engineer.
